Who Are Maxi’s Mates?
Maxi’s Mates is a local dog rescue with a big heart.
Since 2012, we’ve been giving stray and abandoned dogs from across Teesside and the North East a safe place to stay, heal, and start again.
Founded in memory of a stray named Maxi, our mission is simple: no dog left behind.
Helping Dogs Find Forever Homes Across Teesside
At our base in Carlin Howe Farm, Dunsdale, we care for stray dogs picked up by the local authority in Redcar & Cleveland and Hambleton.
Here, they get food, warmth, medical attention, and the time they need to trust again.

Meet Maxi, The Dog Who Started It All
Maxi was a stray found wandering the streets, thin, scared, and overlooked. But she sparked something big.
Founders Jane Galliford and Michelle Cooper couldn’t forget her, and from that moment on, they set out to make sure no dog would ever be forgotten again.
Maxi’s legacy lives on in every tail wag, every homecoming, and every dog we care for.
